We have needed to fill in patches of sod for a couple of years when we had chinch bugs eating away at our front lawn. Last summer I pulled a bunch of weeds where grass should be hoping that the grass would fill in. It didn't. After this year's cold winter we really had to fix the front yard. Last week Matt started digging up the grass and weeds. We rented a tiller, but that seemed to be more work than it was worth. Matt's mom came up last weekend and helped get the rest up, evened out and fertilizer down. The sod was delivered yesterday and we called our friend Evan to help lay it last night. It was done in about an hour and a half, and it wasn't super hot at 7 when they got started. In the end, we have about a half a pallet of sod left. Evan took some home last night and another friend, Kevin, may come some time today to take more. I'm sure we could use the sod in our back yard, but you try to convince Matt to do that!!

Matt and his mom also decided to make a flower bed around the mailbox. She even bought us 2 hibiscus plants. We put down landscape fabric to help minimize weeds. We have extra fabric for the front flower bed, but we'll get to that later. They also put a border around the tree out front, which I think looks great!

What a LOT of work. I hope Barbara W. and Matt were able to get up and go to work on Tuesday!!! I'd be so stiff and sore. :( Everything looks great! You're hired.
It looks great and I really like the hibiscus choice. I also like how you get to stand around and take pictures. Well played.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Lovely, darling! :) Yes, those terrible chinch bugs ruined our perfectly manicured lawn years ago and we finally just gave up. Now, we'll take anything green! Ha!
Wise choice on getting such a large project done before your 'bun is cooked'. (tee-hee)
Can't wait to see what gender this little one is!!
