Congratulations Pat and Mariruth!
Yesterday Matt's brother and sister-in-law had their baby girl! In true big brother form, they have not yet decided on a name yet, though they have 4 names they are tossing around. The baby weighs 7.2 lbs, a little smaller than my nephew. I know Barbara is excited the baby decided to come before she got there. I still think it's funny that Baby Villacampa came before Baby Wurdeman even though he was due after she was.
My brother brought the family home from the hospital yesterday. Yes, that means that they named the baby: Jonathan Michael Jr. They will either call him Nathan (the end of Jonathan) or Junior. I like JV Jr, but it's not necessarily my opinion that counts.
Mom and I took Mia to Wal-Mart yesterday. She crawled into the front seat so she could "drive". Too cute!!

Baby!
I got to meet my first nephew this afternoon. He is so tiny! The family had a lot of visitors, so I haven't had much time to hold him. (I'm trying to be fair since I will be "living" with him for a week!) I also had fun walking around the hospital with Mia. She says "hi" and "bye" to almost everyone she sees and loves to see the babies in the nursery. Actually, I think she just likes getting a squirt of the hand sanitizer outside of the nursery!! :) The plan is for everyone to come home tomorrow. Baby should have a name by the time he gets home!

He's here!
Baby Villacampa arrived at 4:25 PM today. He weighs 7 lbs, 12 oz. Pretty good for being a week and a half early! Chat is understandably tired and sore. I am looking forward to meeting him tomorrow!!
I talked to my friend and I have plans to go to lunch with her and her family next weekend. I'm so glad we are able to get together!

False alarm...sort of...
Well, Jonathan took Chat to the hospital last night and the contractions stopped. They headed home around 2 AM. I talked to Jonathan this morning and he said that the contractions have started, but the doctor said to wait until they are really painful (who's the judge of that?!?!) or her water breaks. I'm thinking I might be there for the birth...if he'll wait another day and a half! Newborns are cute, so even if he is a day or 2 old I'll still be excited!
To be fair, I am excited about seeing Mia again. It's good and bad that I only see my "babies" a few times a year. I would love to be closer to all of my family, but they have changed so much in the short time between visits. Mom and I are looking forward to lots of play time with Mia.

By this time tomorrow...
I will have my first nephew!! My brother called this evening saying he was going to take Chat to the hospital because her contractions were 5 minutes apart. Chat's mother's intuition was in full gear because she had Jonathan take her to the doctor today because she felt like the time was coming. It sure was!! I booked a flight up to see them next week. Poor Matt will have to make it on his own for a while. Actually, he's kind of used to me leaving him during the summer. One of the joys of teaching!! Really, the timing couldn't be better for me because if the baby came on or closer to his due date, I wouldn't have been able to go meet him because it was so close to our vacation and the end of summer. And I just realize that now I get to see my friend Christina! She was my roommate in Missouri during Summer Project and I only get to see her when I go see my brother. Last summer when I went to visit she was going to the hospital to have her baby. He's a cutie and I'm looking forward to seeing them (and maybe even her husband) again!
Happy 59th Anniversary!
Yesterday was Mimi and Gramps (Matt's grandparents) 59th anniversary. They spent this week with Barbara and Monett (Matt's aunt) driving up to Alabama to go peach picking. It was interesting to hear all of the tourist activities they did in the Montgomery area. Even though my parents lived in Montgomery for years, we never really did the tourist spots. I guess that's just not what I thought about doing when I was visiting my parents.
Everyone got in last night around 6 and we headed to Clark's Fish Camp for dinner and then came back home for Carvel ice cream cake. Yum! They left this morning when Matt got up to go to work. I know it was a short visit with us, but they have been gone for a while and were ready to get back home. I completely understand!

Summer job
For a while now I have wanted to paint the baseboards and trim. Last week I bought paint and started in the living room. It's going to be a lot of work getting this all done. Ideally, I would like to do the entire house. I know, it's a little ambitious. The hardest part is keeping the cats out of the way. You would think that since they are already sleeping, closing the door to the room they are in wouldn't be a big deal. Unfortunately they cry like they are being tortured!
Yesterday Matt cleaned out the fish tank so we could pull it away from the wall so I could paint behind it. The fish tank looks great!
In other news, today was my first dentist appointment in 3 years. Yup, I haven't gone since before the wedding, which is silly really, because I think I have been paying for dental insurance the entire time. Since I went to a new dentist they just took x-rays and checked everything. The dentist said everything looks really good, but he wants to fix a filling that has chipped. I will do that and get my teeth cleaned the day before we leave for Boston. Not great timing, but it was the first appointment available for a cleaning, and I start working the day after we get back from our trip. :(

Blast from the past!
Mom found Speak N Spell shortly before my last visit. We looked on eBay for a Speak N Math, but got out bid in the last few seconds. I hate it when that happens!! I was thinking about it again this weekend, found another one on eBay, placed a bid and won!! It came yesterday and I have had fun playing, especially Number Stumpers (you have to guess the number it's thinking). I will say, though, games just aren't as fun when there aren't other people that want to play it.

Congratulations Brittany!
Brittany Wurdeman graduated Sunday from high school, though she has been done with classes for a while. The last few weeks for the seniors is for internships, and she worked with a geneticist. I guess it was good for her because she learned she no longer wanted to be a geneticist! We enjoyed being with the family for the weekend and I for one was glad I didn't have to go to work after a late night of driving!

High School Reunion
Yesterday was a baby shower for one of my good friends from high school. I love that when I am with my friends, it doesn't matter how long we have been out of communication with each other, it's always just like old times. We do have a good time when we get together. It just stinks that we are all so spread out. At least most of us still live in Florida! We are going back to my friend's house tomorrow for lunch and swimming. Lisa and I decided that we definitely have to be careful not to get sunburns because mom got us massages for tomorrow. I can only imagine how painful and NOT fun it would be to get a massage with a sunburn!!
