Trust Fall!

If you don't know what a trust fall is, it is when you fall backward and expect the other person to catch you. Robbie must really trust Matthew!!

The Boys

I've been trying to take more pictures lately because I feel like I haven't been taking many. It's also hard because as soon as Robbie sees the camera he wants to look at pictures, not sit and have his picture taken.

I put Alex in the exersaucer for the first time yesterday. I don't know if he really liked it or not, though. It's also on the highest level, so his feet were just dangling in the air.

I had the freezer open as I was getting my breakfast ready. Robbie found Matthew's leftover McFlurry and decided to help himself!

The boys on the play mat. They were holding hands, but of course I didn't get that picture!

Alex has been rolling around like a pro!  I think once he got the hang of it he just decided to take off.  Here is a video of Alex rolling from front to back.

And him rolling from back to front.

And this is how far he rolled (he started on the mat)! I think he would have kept going if the toy didn't get in his way.

Usually Robbie likes to play in Alex's crib because he likes Alex's soother. Yesterday I put Alex in Robbie's crib while I changed Robbie and when I finished changing Robbie he wanted to get in the crib with Alex.

It is ridiculously hard to get a picture of Alex smiling because as soon as he sees the camera he stops smiling. It's too bad because Alex has a cute smile! We did get a couple of good pictures, though.

You can tell he's smiling behind his arm!

A little smile.

Robbie is 19 months old!!!!!!!

I can't believe that Robbie is on the down side 1 and heading to 2 years! I am amazed at how he has been picking up words lately. He now can tell you what a dog, a monkey, a cow and a cat say. On Monday when we were walking into the gym I said "Robbie, stay on the sidewalk. Thank you." and he turned around and did the sign for "thank you"! I have been doing that with him for a while now (probably since he started signing "please"), but that was the first time he did it. We were out on the porch earlier this week and a plane flew over us and Robbie (sort of) did the sign for airplane. That's another sign I've been doing for a while that he just randomly started doing! It's been raining a lot here lately and we have gone outside to play in the rain. Robbie found some mud and got his hands nice and dirty. I don't know why he decided to taste the mud, but he did and his face was pretty covered with mud, too. His water table had some water in it (duh, it was raining!) and he rinsed his hands off a little bit in the water. I was surprised at how much dirt was left in the water! Dirty Robbie! (But not as bad as before he "rinsed" off)

Rinsing off and playing in the sink

We'll have to get a video of Robbie's happy dance. It's so cute, but I say that about most everything he does! :) Alex was playing on his play mat the other day and here is how he ended up.

Alex is 3 months old!!!

I can't believe my sweet baby is 3 months old. That means he's a 1/4 of a year old already! The time has gone by so quickly and we love having him as a part of our family. He is talking all of the time and today he almost rolled over from his back to his stomach, he just has to figure out how to get his arm out from under him. I am hoping he is going through a growth spurt because he has been getting up twice at night instead of just once. I know that's still good for a 3 month old, but it's hard to go back to getting up more often when you aren't used to it! I am putting all of the newborn clothes away, even though I think he could still fit into some of the outfits. I'm sure there are more 3 month clothes somewhere, I'll just have to find them. If not he's going to wear out the ones we have! We also upgrade him to size 2 diapers. We probably could have kept him in size 1's for a little while longer, but he was definitely outgrowing them. His cheeks are just as kissable as Robbie's and I kiss them as much as I can.

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a good Mother's Day weekend. We went to the zoo and had so much fun. Robbie wasn't as nervous around the animals as he was when I went with a couple of other moms from my Bible study. I don't know if it was because Matthew was there or not. I was glad that the zoo wasn't too busy because it was water safety weekend, but we didn't go near the splash park, which is probably where most of the people were. I did get to catch up with a friend from elementary school (though I may have been in middle school when she and her sister came). We really became friends in college because she is younger than I am and we didn't talk to each other because we didn't have anything in common before then.

Lots of noisy birds!

Baby bird

It's hard to see, but there's a mommy duck on the right and a baby duck in the middle. There was another baby duck, but it was not following mommy and was so far away from her it was out of the picture.

Robbie on the carousel horse.

Watching the otters.

Chasing the otters.

Otters playing in the water.

Checking out the animals.

All of those birds sure made a lot of noise!

An elephant cooling himself off. We saw him make the mud to cover himself with.

Matthew got up with the boys Sunday morning so I could sleep in. We went to second service at church, which was when they were having the baby dedication. We didn't know any of the babies this time, though. Alex had another great day in the nursery and apparently was the only baby who was not crying. We went to Sonny's for lunch. It's an easy choice because Robbie loves it and can share our meals with us. It was a nice Mother's Day with my TWO boys!

Busy!

We have been talking about turning Robbie's car seat around. We finally did it last weekend and Robbie loves it! He still gets excited when he gets in his car seat. He likes that he can see us now and he can see Alex, too. I try to point out things that he could see, though I don't know how fast his eyes can look. He likes pointing out trees, though.

Best picture with him looking at the camera

Best picture of his smile (though he's not looking at the camera)

For some reason Robbie started drooling. He's only done it a couple of times, but the first time I saw a big wet spot on his sheet I immediately figured his diaper leaked. I didn't find any wet spots on his clothes, so I'm guessing it's drool!

We went to Kan Ki, a Japanese steak house last Saturday. I didn't want to sit at a grill table because I was afraid that Robbie wouldn't like it or they would take too long getting us our food. There weren't very many people there and the parties that did come in after us would have been too big to sit at our table (if we sat at a grill table), so we really could have done it. Oh well, maybe next time. They have a pond outside with the big koi fish. After dinner we took Robbie out to see the fish. I tried to get him to make a fish face by squeezing his cheeks together and then he started squeezing his own cheeks. I tried to get a picture of it, but as soon as he saw the camera that was all he wanted. This picture was as good as I could get. (I was holding him, which is why it's so close.)

Matthew has been great this past week getting up early in the morning so he can get ready earlier so he can get Robbie up and I can sleep in. It has been great for me to get an extra hour or so of rest. (I don't always fall back asleep, but it's still nice to stay in bed.) For some reason, though, Matthew didn't put up a fight when I offered to get up with the boys this morning. Oh well. The couple extra hours he got to sleep in today don't make up for all of the extra sleep I got during the week.

When Matt finally got up this morning we hit the stores. We needed a few things at Target, looked at new couches at Ashley Furniture (it's right next to Target) and made a trip to Costco. When we were heading out it was already close to Robbie's nap time, but he was great the whole time. They were handing out lots of different samples at Costco, so I told Matt that we need to fill Robbie up because I knew he would fall asleep in the car. I was worried that he would wake up early from his nap because he was hungry and wouldn't get as good of a nap as he needed. Robbie had lots of chicken (organic, too!), a couple different types of sausage, and some yogurt. I know the people who are handing out the samples don't care how many times you go back, so we loaded up. Robbie did fall asleep in the car, just like we knew he would!

I'm not reading...

I'm sleeping!

Alex has been sleeping like a trooper lately! He's been going at least 8 hours and has gone 9 hours twice! Robbie was never this good of a sleeper this early. I know Lisa says I'll jinx it by telling everyone how good of a sleeper Alex is, but he's doing too good not to brag about it. I feel like I have to go back to all of the moms I secretly cursed under my breath when they told me their kids slept 8 hours at night at 2 months old now that I have a 2 month old that sleeps 8 hours at night. :)

I'm listening to Alex talk now. He's in his swing, hanging out with Matthew. I love hearing both of my boys talking. This past week Robbie has started saying "up" and "yes". It's obvious that he still doesn't know how to use "yes" and "no" properly, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it.

Here's a video Matthew took of Alex talking in his swing another day.
