Villacampa Visit

I think it is now common knowledge that I have gone back to teaching high school. This isn't a permanent position for me. I am just filling in until the school hires a full time teacher. I was called the Friday before school started and asked if I would help them out. I had most of the students in middle school so I know them and they know me and I'm at the same school, so it isn't a completely new and different situation for me. When the head of the school called me, I told her I had to have last Friday off to go visit family.

Thursday was a long day. I failed my first glucose test by 4 points, so I had to do the 3 hour glucose test. Since I was already taking Friday off I didn't want to miss school. Unfortunately that meant not eating the entire day, doing the 3 hour test, and then driving to Lisa's house. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I got to Lisa and Erik's around 9:15 or so. We didn't stay up very long because we wanted to get on the road in the morning.

We made it to Nick and Robyn's by lunch time. The girls had time to play before and after we ate, but then it was nap time. Even the big girls took a nap (Robyn just read, but I know she enjoyed the quiet time). Taylor was good enough to wait until Nick got home to open her birthday presents that we brought her. (Really, she didn't know she had presents to open until after Nick got home. That's just mean to make a 3 year old wait to open gifts!) Kayleigh really wanted to help Taylor open presents and both girls were excited about what Taylor got.

Saturday had the potential to be a bad day. It was raining, which could have ruined our plans. Luckily the rain was just passing through and was gone by the afternoon. We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch so the girls could get out of the house and play in the play area. When we were all done the rain had stopped, so we went to the fountain where the girls could play in the water. The fountain was turned off, but Nick found the number to call to get it turned on. It wasn't long before the girls were splashing around. The best part was that we were the only ones there...for a little while. More kids came later, but I'm sure it wasn't as crowded as it would have been if the sun was shining. There were a few older boys that were not being very nice to other kids, and I almost had to spank one of them that took the Chick-fil-a cup that Taylor was playing with and looked like he was going to step on it. I don't know where his parents were or why they weren't paying attention. The other kids were good and Kayleigh and Taylor have learned to keep their eyes open for big kids that might not be looking out for them.

We took the kids home for nap time. Afterward the girls enjoyed playing with Taylor's new Color Wonder markers and finger paint. Kayleigh saw Nick's guitars and asked if he would play one. He kept her entertained for a while and she even got to strum a bit. I happened to mention the night before that Nick had gone outside to look for fairies, so we did have to keep telling the girls that they couldn't go out and look for them too. It was way too hot, muggy and buggy outside after the rain. They did go out after dinner to blow bubbles and play with Taylor's cars.

Sunday was a short morning. Nick went out and picked up Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast. Yum!! The girls got to play for a little while and we packed up the car. It was going to be a long day for me since I had to drive all the way home. Lisa was nice enough to drive to her house, so I only had to drive myself the rest of the way. Kayleigh complained about having quiet time in the car, but she eventually fell asleep. I only stayed at their house for a few minutes before getting back on the road. It's always nice to be home!

By the way, Brian did come along with us, but he's still too little to get into it with the big girls. It is cute seeing him crawl around.

And here is what everyone wants, pictures!!

Love those little girl tummies at the water park!! Looks like they had such a good time together. You did a lot in a short visit.

I bet your Chic-Fil-A visit was much better than the one I had with Lisa and Kayleigh in the play area. If you haven't heard, ask Lisa about it sometime.

Also, I think it is great all the grandkids are around the same age to play with each other. In a few years, 1 year won't make a difference between Robbie and Brian.
