Fun weekend

We had a fun 3 day weekend.  It started Friday when I took the boys to meet another friend at a fire station.  It was X's treat for potty training and Amber invited us along.  I wasn't sure if Robbie was going to want to go since he did not have fun when he went last year, but he was excited about it.  He was the only one who wanted to sit in the firetruck.  He looked so small!!  The fireman took us around the whole truck showing us everything they keep in it (different hoses, gear, even the jaws of life).  Finally it was time to use the hose, which is all X wanted to do anyway.  X was the only one who wanted to use the hose.  Alex just wanted to be held the whole time and found a little skin tag to pick at.

After the fire station we went to Firehouse Subs for lunch.  I think all 3 boys enjoyed their fireman day!

They have to turn on the truck to use the hose.  Robbie thought it was pretty loud!

X to the rescue!

I made plans a while back to visit my sister and her family Saturday.  The boys were super excited to see their cousins.  Robbie wanted to leave as soon as he woke up but I made him wait until after breakfast.  Kayleigh had a game to cheer for, but, luckily for us, it got moved from 10 to 9, so she was done and home before we got there.  It's so nice that the kids all play well together and we don't have to plan anything.  I wasn't going to make the boys take a nap, but Alex got super cranky in the afternoon and I made him take one.  Robbie did fine without one, though he didn't last too long in the car on the way home!  Lisa fixed us lunch and dinner.  Ok, Erik picked up nuggets for the kids for lunch and pizza from Costco for dinner.  But Lisa did put the pizza in the oven. :)  I had nursery duty Sunday, so we couldn't stay too late.  I think Robbie would have stayed until he passed out somewhere.  I was probably on the edge of  not supposed to be leaving the city because of how far along I am, but I figured a few days later than my cut off was ok.

Lisa made cute Valentine's Day shirts for the boys.  They stayed shirtless for a while after trying on their new shirts before we got them dressed again.  Alex liked playing with the Lightning computer (though I don't think it was actually played like it was made to be played).

After lunch I told Lisa I really wasn't sure how much Alex ate and how much he fed to the dogs.  I gave him a few more Cheetos to tide him over until dinner.  I think Ginger got half of one and Tracy grabbed another one out of his hand.  You can tell he wasn't happy about it!

After church Sunday we went out to lunch with friends.  Then Amber and I went shopping for Alex and X's birthday party.  Their birthdays are only 360 days apart and, since we both plan on inviting the same people, we figured it would be easier to do a joint birthday party.  The dads took the boys home so the moms could shop in peace!  We bought some party supplies and will get the rest when it get closer to party time.  After shopping Amber and I sat and talked for over 30 minutes.  It was so nice to not have any interruptions!

Monday we just relaxed at home.  I kept asking Robbie if he wanted to go shopping and he would just say "Alex and I are playing."  Well, I'd hate to interrupt that!!  Robbie did ask to go to the froggy restaurant (a self-serve frozen yogurt place) and I told him if he stayed clean and dry all day we'd go after dinner.  Not only did he do that Monday, but he did it Sunday and Saturday!  Yes, that included the trip.  (I brought along a potty and we stopped at a couple of rest stops so he could go.)  I learned that no matter how much ice cream and sprinkles we give him, it's never going to be enough.

Robbie did say a couple of times Monday that his tummy hurt.  I thought it was probably because he was getting so many potty treats.  Turns out he picked up a stomach bug.  He woke up around 4 Tuesday morning and I went in with him.  I didn't mean to fall asleep in the boys' room, but I was woken up around 5:30 by Alex.  I had to let Matthew relieve me and not long later Robbie was up again.  I went to brush his hair and felt something I shouldn't have...vomit.  Blech!  Luckily Matthew was able to work from home.  Catie/I had a check up and it was a little late to reschedule.  I had just gotten Alex buckled in his car seat when Matthew came out so I could help him clean up Robbie again.  Luckily I was a little early and we had "Planes" in the car to keep Alex happy while we got Robbie cleaned up.

My appointment went well.  They checked my iron again.  It went up a little bit, but not much.  I'm feeling better, though, so even those few tenths of a point made a difference!  Catie's heartbeat is good and she's moving and measuring well.  And we got a call yesterday saying that her furniture is in!  We weren't expecting it until March and we're very happy it's early.  Unfortunately it wouldn't fit in the van, so we'll have to rent a truck to bring it home.  It's times like this I miss Matt's truck.  But we really need the van more than the truck.  (Sorry, Matt!)

Catie's heartbeat:

I was just getting back in the car after my appointment when my phone rang.  Matt said that when he called the pediatrician they thought it was best to bring in Robbie.  The nurse practitioner said that there have been a lot of kids that have caught the stomach bug and the only thing to do was keep him rested and hydrated.  Since Robbie said that his throat hurt they did a strep test, too, which came back negative.  I really think it was just all of the throwing up he was doing.  The NP said that his throat wasn't very red, though I have no idea how she saw anything because Robbie did not want to open his mouth after the swabbing!  We did lots of cuddling yesterday and Robbie slept in our bed last night (Matt slept on the day bed).

I heard Robbie waking up about 5:30 this morning and he was up for the day.  Happily he's feeling much better!  I didn't make him eat much and he didn't ask for food, so I figured he wasn't hungry anyway.  Both boys took extra long naps today.  Even Matt came home and laid down with Robbie for a while (on the day bed).  It was so funny to hear Robbie wake up because I heard him say to Matt "Where did you come from?"  After a long day and night neither of us wanted to cook so I asked Robbie what he wanted for dinner.  He said "Tijuana Flats".  I should have known he wasn't feeling well when he didn't even want chips and queso.  He did want to walk down to Publix and get a cookie, though!  I'm still planning on sending him to school tomorrow since he hasn't had a fever for 24 hours.  I think he's ready to get out of here, too!
