This school year was so fast! At the end of the year I'm usually ready to get rid of students (even though I love them). This year I couldn't believe it was time for them to leave. Not that I'm complaining. I love the summer because it is so relaxing and I get to travel and visit family, starting today!
I went to a baby shower a couple of weeks ago, and here is how one conversation went:
Jenny: I can't believe it's almost June.
Me: YES!!!
Amber: Obviously you're a teacher, because to everyone else, June is just another month.
I have another baby shower to go to tomorrow. I am looking forward to catching up with some long-time friends!

Tooting My Own Horn
I got this email yesterday from one of the parents. It was just so nice I had to share it! I did change names for privacy purposes.
Hi Mrs. Wurdeman,
I just wanted to thank you for all you have done for my daughter the past 2 years. She has really enjoyed being in your class and has learned more about science in the past 2 years than we ever imagined. We sincerely feel that you are one of the best teachers my daughter has ever had. Your enthusiasm for the subject, and the organization in the presentation of the material really engaged my daughter in a subject she previously had no interest in. Thanks so much for the extra effort you went to last year in helping her understand the material. We have truly appreciated your dedication to teaching her. Most importantly, you made learning fun and that has made all the difference!
I'm not at all sure that we have made the best decision to try a new school next year and have had many sleepless nights regarding this decision. She has prospered so much at your school and I have felt for the past 2 years that your school was the perfect fit for her. That being said my daughter wants to try a "bigger pond" and after much prayer we decided to let her try the larger environment. We are hopeful that it will work out and will truly miss the wonderful people at your school. In the meantime, we will continue to support your school with our praise & prayers. Thanks again for being such a wonderful role model and teacher.
Sincerely, An 8th Grade Parent

Tagged
I have been tagged by my friend Kelli so here are seven random things about myself...
1. I am a no snooze button person. When the alarm goes off, I have to get up (usually within 5 minutes if Simba wants his morning petting). What's the point of hitting the snooze rather than just sleeping in?!?!
2. I have tons of pictures that never made it into photo albums. One summer I bought a bunch of scrapbooking supplies that are still unopened and in a box somewhere around here.
3. I hate doing the dishes and taking out the trash.
4. I love to window shop. It doesn't matter what store I'm in, I can just look at things for hours (ok, minutes) on end. It drives Matt crazy.
5. I tape a lot of shows that "I'm going to get to later" that end up getting deleted, unwatched, from the DVR.
6. I am still slightly obsessed with the New Kids on the Block and am thrilled that they got back together!
7. I'm a pretty random person as it is. I have a tendency to think things in my head and finish the thoughts out loud, confusing those around me. I know what I'm talking about, even if others don't!!
I tag Lisa, Robyn and Molly to give 7 random things about themselves. It's really fun if you can think of 7 things!

WooHoo!
Our economy stimulus check was deposited today. We are going to put most of it toward our 2nd mortgage, and I think I've already spent half of my part that's left. Oh well. The extra money is nice. I think the government should do it more often!

It came!
Our IRS refund check was direct deposited yesterday. It was disappointingly small, but I am thankful that we didn't owe money. We did spend almost all of it at one place - Wal-Mart! We had enough left to almost cover dinner out last night.

New Bedroom Fan
This weekend Matt and I bought a new fan for our bedroom. The old fan did not work on high anymore, which is a problem if you live in Florida! Plus we are slowly switching everything from gold accents to silver (actually, brushed nickle) accents.
