Happy birthday to Alex! We planned a fun weekend with our families, including a party on Alex's birthday.
We drove down Thursday afternoon and spent the evening with my parents. They had to work Friday, so we spent the day with Jim and Jean at the children's museum. The kids had so much playing with everything. I think that Robbie had the most fun in the sports room playing with the basketball. We left around 3 because they had an after school program and we didn't want to stay if a bunch of kids were coming in. We went to the playground outside for a while and then parted ways.
Playing in the boat.
Fishing with Grandpa
Trying to squirt water.
Driving the boat down the river.
Trying on football gear.

The ball goes in here...
Where'd it go?

Alex and Robbie in the tunnel.
Cute newspapers we created. Too bad we couldn't zoom in on the boys to take their picture.
Saturday was the big day. I love that Alex's birthday fell on Saturday so we could celebrate on his birthday. So many friends and family came out to the park and made the day special. Unfortunately there was also a bug going around, so there were a few people that stayed home. The cousins had fun running around on the playground. Unfortunately it didn't lead to good naps like we thought it would! It didn't take long for Alex to dig into his cake...just the icing, really. I don't think he actually ate any cake. It sprinkled a couple of times, but not enough to ruin the day. There was also a family of raccoons that came out to check on the festivities. Luckily they only made their appearance at the beginning and the end of the party.
I'm not sure what the kids are doing here.

Unfortunately, Matthew caught a nasty stomach bug and ended up going to the hospital for IV fluids and medicine. He stayed at his mom's house to hopefully get a good night's rest while I was joined by the Eikelands at my parents' house. Alex didn't want to go to sleep that night. I can't say for sure why not, but he did take his first steps! He walked from the ottoman to me and then later from me to the ottoman (about 3 steps each way). My mom saw it, too. He took a couple of steps Sunday in front of me, my mom and Lisa. We cancelled our Sunday plans and headed home. Luckily the medicine was already working, so the drive home wasn't too terrible for him.
Opening more presents at home.
Robbie opening his gift from Mimi and Gramps.
Alex likes his gift, too.
Robbie is excited because Alex now has his own shark towel from Monett and Gary.
Where's Alex?
Silly boys!
It was a great weekend. We are so thankful for all of our friends and family. We are blessed!
