First Day of School

Yesterday was Robbie's first day of Mother's Morning Out.  He was so excited about going to school, but he and his buddy Xavier are in different classes, so that's a bummer.  Monday was meet the teacher day and Robbie kept saying "You can't come with me!"  We told him that Mommy and Daddy were allowed to go, but Tuesday he would go by himself.  When we got to school Tuesday Robbie was ready to head straight back to his classroom, but they call back one class at a time and Robbie is in the oldest class, and so he was last.  It's nice that there was no hesitation on his part.  There were coffee and donuts for parents after the kids went to their room, but we didn't stay.  Robbie had a good first day and I think he likes his teachers.  The first two weeks are only 2 hours and then he'll start going 3 hours.  They want the kids to get used to the schedule, but I drop the boys off for 2+ hours when we go to the gym and even for church, so I don't think going to 3 hours will be too hard for him.

Ready to go!

Going into the classroom.

I was fine dropping Robbie off and watching him go back to the classroom, but I did get a little sad when I left.

Getting picked up.

Xavier was getting picked up at the same time and I told Robbie to say hi to Xavier.  Robbie ran up to him to give him a hug!

Best Friends!

Today was hard because I told Robbie we were going to church (for my Mom to Mom Bible study).  When we pulled up to the back entrance Robbie said "This is how we go to school."  When we headed inside he started crying "You said we were going to church!  This is school!"  I see how that was confusing for him, but he was eventually fine with it (though still sad that he and Xavier aren't in the same class on Wednesdays, either).

French Doors

nMatthew and I have talked for a long time about replacing our sliding doors with French doors.  We finally made it happen yesterday.  Ok, the guys from Lowes finally made it happen.  I had my first Mom to Mom meeting yesterday, so Matthew worked from home.  The boys were with me, too.  The contractors came around 10:15 and were done probably by 12:30.  They were just putting on the finishing touches when we got home.  Robbie loves his new doors and spent most of yesterday just opening and closing them.  He's great about watching out for Alex and not closing him or his fingers in the door, but he's not great about closing the doors gently, so "don't slam the door!" was heard a lot here yesterday!  The doors have blinds between the glass, which is really nice.  We are very happy with the final product.  Matthew needs to paint the doors and the new trim, but that will happen soon.
