School Agreement

It's been a short, but sad, work week. Word got out that there was going to be another round of faculty cuts Tuesday afternoon. They let a first grade teacher (and my friend), a sixth grade teacher, and a computer teacher go. We have about 115 less students enrolled for next year than we had enrolled this year and we are still 55 students down from what they have budgeted for next year. I have no idea where else they would make cuts, and I am so glad that it is not my job to do it. We found out today that we might have to teach 6 classes next year and only have 1 planning period. The good news is that I did get an agreement to work next year. They no longer call them contracts, but I think that changed last year. I have no idea if my salary changes next year, because the only time I see how much I make is when I sign the yearly agreements. God has been faithful in the the times of 1 salary, so I know we will be ok. Tomorrow is my last day before my summer break officially starts. I really only have to turn in my school computer and sign out my classroom keys. I have no plans to go up to school this summer, so I really don't need my keys, but I like to have them just in case!

Mom and Dad

My parents came up for the weekend. It's the first time they were up together since my family came up for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. Mom called Tuesday night and asked about coming up Friday. I forgot that Friday night was graduation, but they only got to town a few minutes before I got home. They stopped in St. Augustine to have dinner with two of their friends from Palatka. Saturday we drove up to Savannah and walked and drove around for a few hours. We also drove by Matt's new office and toured one of the new neighborhoods being built nearby. That town sure has high hopes of becoming a big city. We came home for a few minutes before heading to Kan-Ki, our favorite Japanese steakhouse. Apparently it was prom night, because there were a bunch of kids all dressed up. Luckily they weren't at our table. We went across the street to Krispy Kreme for donuts for the morning.

After church we came back to the house to change and head out to lunch with my cousin, Kristen, and her husband. They used to be so close to us, but now they are moving out to the beach. Actually, that's a great excuse to go out to the beach! :)

I hope mom and dad got home. I haven't heard from them yet...

Juliet

Matt brought home a laser pen and Juliet actually plays with it. I thought we have tried to see if either cat would play with the light before and it hasn't worked, but for some reason Juliet seems to like this one. Also, both cats are ferocious predators, so lizards, snakes, frogs and bugs that enter our porch, beware!! Sorry the second video of Juliet jumping up at the lizard is sideways, I don't know how to fix it.

Bye bye car payment!

Ok, I know I have already mentioned that I mailed in my last car payment and that the check cleared the bank and I no longer have a balance when I log in to the bank's website. I was going through old mail yesterday and found a letter from the bank and it had my paid contract as well as the car title. That got me thinking....

First attempt:

Second attempt (with Matt's help):

And two pictures to go along with the video:

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day mom! You did a wonderful job raising 3 great kids and one that just stands above the rest. :) I'm sorry we aren't down there to celebrate, but I'm sure your oldest will take care of you.

Chat, Lisa and Robyn, I hope you have a great Mother's Day too!

When you have time to kill..

This only takes about 2 minutes (I promise!!) and is pretty funny. Call the Shutterfly customer service at 888-225-7159 and listen all the way to option 6. Then make sure you push 6. Don't worry, you don't have to talk to anyone or give out any information. It's just funny and I know you'll get a kick out of it!
